Upcoming Meeting

Members of GFWC MI established Girlstown in 1958 in Belleville, Michigan.  The first facility was named Loch Rio, a residential facility for girls who are wards of the court.  Through the years Girlstown has expanded to facilitate transitional care, and placement in foster homes for children.  Counseling is given for children and families.  Education is provided through the public school system.  Physically, Girlstown has grown with a second building for living and a sizeable expansion of Loch Rio. Modernization was completed in 2001 of the kitchen and bath facilities.  A memorial garden and landscaping were completed in 2002 in dedication to Jan vanBlaricom one of the early members to establish this service care. The dedication to this non-profit operation creates a foundation to continue well into the next century.  Continued love for our residents makes for building and changing the world for many young people.
